Mary Helen Mette

Mary H. Mette, 86 of Dieterich, passed away at 5:38 p.m., Sunday, January 13, 2013 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday evening at the church with a parish prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mary was born October 26, 1926 in Green Creek, the daughter of Henry B. and Mary A. (Schwerman) Mersman. She married Lawrence J. Mette on December 29, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2011. Mary was a member of the St. Isidore Parish, a homemaker and very involved with running the family farm.

Mary is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence; three brothers, Lawrence “Rocky”, John and infant, Henry; three sisters, Agnes Esker, Rosemary Koeberlein and Theresa O’Dell.
